Ray Pate
Ray Pate is Head Wrestling Coach at the Sterling academy, where he leads the youth wrestling program for ages 5 to 13. He is a former Army Special Forces Green Beret and a three-time Bronze Star recipient. He is also a NASM certified personal trainer with specializations in performance enhancement and MMA and combat sports conditioning. As a certified wrestling coach, Ray has been selected as a Virginia National Team Coach three years in a row, and he serves as an assistant coach at St. Paul VI Catholic High School, a three-time WCAC champion that finished as VISAA state runner-up in 2025 and third in 2026. Over his career he has coached a Beast of the East champion, a Fargo champion, and dozens of VHSL state champions and placers. Sterling wrestlers who reach 14 continue in High School Wrestling at the Ashburn academy.
